Age Level Targets

READY! for Kindergarten has developed targets for each pre-kindergarten age level. We look at actual kindergarten targets—what a typical 5 year old needs to be familiar with by the time he or she starts school. Then we have taken developmental research to break down target skills sets by age so parents can guide their children toward goals that are attainable for their level of development.

Pre-K/K-3 Alignment

The READY! for Kindergarten age level targets focus on the skills identified by research as having the highest correlation to success in school—specifically learning to read and do math early and well. They are aligned with the Washington State Early Learning and Development benchmarks.

Our program encourages parents to view the targets with a fluid attitude toward skills and ability levels. If a child is excelling in one area of development, but falling behind in another, we promote the concept that each child is unique and will develop targeted skills at different rates.  Maintaining a learning environment where the pleasure of learning and the building of social-emotional well-being  is emphasized is more important than mastering a set of "skills".

Our goal is to turn five minutes a day into an exciting interactive experience between parents and children using the tools and activities provided in READY! classes. Research has proven that this provides significant support to a child's development of scholastic aptitude.
